AIX: Attributes and Configuration

Struggling to understand AIX? There is probably a good reason for that...

Take a deep breath.

Want to check the attributes of a device? Use lscfg (LiSt ConFiGuration).

Want to check the config of a device? Use lsattr (LiSt ATTRibute).

No worries.

I can remember.....

When AIX was new, IBM used to use the slogan "AIX: IBM Supports Unix..." and the wits (and half-wits like myself) used to append the extra words "... the way a rope supports a hanging man."
