I guess it is a case of "if God is for us, who can be against us" :-) The gent in the picture is the Archbishop of Sydney, Cardinal George Pell:

AUSTRALIA'S highest ranking Catholic has given the Sydney Swans a heaven-sent omen on the eve of their date with destiny tomorrow.
"May the best team win ... and I'm sure that's the Swans," Archbishop of Sydney Cardinal George Pell yesterday.
With support in such high places, it appears Sydney are certs to beat West Coast in the AFL Grand Final.
Cardinal Pell gave the Swans his blessing but sought divine intervention to help the umpires get through unscathed.
"I think we should also say a little prayer that the umpires should give us a few good decisions for a change," he said.
Cardinal Pell is among the highest order of Swans' fans and knows every word of the team anthem.

Thanks to the reader who sent me the article - I was in transit (back and forth) to Melbourne again yesterday so I haven't had a chance to do the normal scan of the papers for interesting stories. I did however note that the red-eye (early morning flight) whs chocko* had a lot more red and white compared to the usual gray and blue :-)

Coming back in the evening the plane was half empty - I think most people decided to stay in Melbourne for the weekend for some reason :-)
