Fortune of the Day

H. L. Mencken's Law:

Those who can -- do.

Those who can't -- teach.

Martin's Extension:

Those who cannot teach -- administrate.

That is so true, but it still hurts to hear it. LOL

I've always heard the 3rd line as "Those who can't teach teach teachers"

Anyone ever noticed that the most effective teachers ARE the one's who not only can do what they teach - but are really enthusiastic about it? Makes you think don't it?

You are both right....

My mother still says it as "Those who can't teach, teach others to teach".

Let's add a new clause and change Martin's:

Lester's Extension:

Those who can't teach, teach teachers.

Martin's Extension:

Those who can't teach teachers, administrate.

The Gray Monk's Extension:

Those who can't administrate end up being politicians and British Civil Servants.

Those who can do.

Those who can’t teach.

Those who can’t teach train teachers.

Those who can’t train teachers write teacher training textbooks.

Those who can’t write teacher training textbooks write state assessment tests.
