9 Types of Users: Mad Bomber

Mad Bomber: "Well, I hit ALT-f6, shift-f8, CNTRL-f10, f4, and f9, and now it looks all weird."

Advantages: Will try to find own solution to problems.

Disadvantages: User might have translated document to Navajo without meaning to.

Symptoms: More than six stopped jobs in UNIX, a 2:1 code-to-letter ratio in WordPerfect

Real Case: One user came in complaining that his WordPerfect document was underlined. When I used reveal codes on it, I found that he'd set and unset underline more than fifty times in his document.

I have never used those Alt Ctrl Esc F1-F12 things. Does something exciting happen when you punch those?

I have been the Mad Bomber occassionally, in moments of frustration with this PC.

Great site! Just found it today! (still solidly 8 Jan here)

Oh, old horsetail was here - yeah, that's where the link I used was, duh. Anyway, about those extra keys, the techie son (mine) encourages the learning of keyboard commands which certainly comes in handy when the mouse dies! or when you can't do the thing you want to do because it's not an option wherever you are, like on the internets, lol. My favorite is Ctrl-PrintScrn. And F-5 for Refresh, esp. in Explorer to put files in order.
