Weblogging for Credit?

In what must be yet another sign of the dumbing-down of education, both Jivha and Tony have pointed out that MIT is offering a course on blogging.

Similar signs of (a lack of) intelligence have surfaced over at AtAT where US banks are apparently trying Windows for ATMs to make themselves more virus susceptible.

Finally we have the ultimate reward, the 2Kth visitor (since the new counter was set up) was looking for .... wait for it ....

I think I am going to reset my counters at midnight, New Years Eve (Hogmanay).

Men's underpants??? How the hell did you become an expert on those? :-D

Well actually the hit was on a joke article about some German bloke with underpants on his head who crashed into another car. Obviously the visitor liked the story, it took him (or her) 6 minutes to read .....

I just checked on Yahoo (where the search came from) for the phrase "men's underpants" and I am hit #5 out of 319. Unbelievable. Google has 514 results but I am still at #5. Obviously I have found a great hit phrase. Mention it a few more times and do a bit of linking to the original article and I could end up being the number one hit site for "men's underpants".

There must be something Freudian about this. Or else it is a cunning plan drawn up by Baldrick that is having some unforseen results. Funny, I can't recall your mentioning men's underpants in any post up 'til now. Must be a new twist in the web.

Hang on if Baldrick did it then I must be Red-Belly-Black Snake. Arrrggghhh. It is wierd trying to work out exactly what people will look for and then trying to match it. I used to occasionally run a piece on the weirdest searches which sometimes were just sheer bad luck (for someone). Out of interest, I am still the #1 Google hit for "Bored on the Bus" (the old blog name) but I only come #2 and #3 for "G'Day Mate". "The Gray Monk" is #1 and #2 and "Jivha" is #1, #2, #4, #5, #7 ....

Searching ... Thanks to Phil Baker, I have found something more interesting than looking at search queries in my web logs. Unfortunately there are two problems - first Phil does not provide any way to link to his article so it will vanish at some point in the future...
